Mikel Arteta 'banishes Matteo Guendouzi from first-team training at Arsenal'

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta allegedly demotes Matteo Guendouzi from first-team training after his ill-disciplined performance against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has reportedly been left out of first-team training since his ill-disciplined performance against Brighton & Hove Albion.

As the Gunners suffered a 2-1 defeat the Amex Stadium, Guendouzi was involved in a heated exchange with Neal Maupay, while it was also alleged that the Frenchman made comments regarding his wages in comparison to his counterparts.

The 21-year-old has not featured since the game on June 20, something which has also been attributed to his attitude during an internal meeting.

According to The Athletic, manager Mikel Arteta has ensured that Guendouzi has not been involved with the senior squad since that discussion.

The report suggests that Arteta and sporting director Edu were left unimpressed by the player at a time when they expected an apology.

Arsenal have since recorded four victories in quick succession, conceding just one goal.
