Arsenal prepare to offer central defender William Saliba a new long-term contract, according to a report.

Arsenal are reportedly preparing to offer William Saliba a new long-term contract amid the recent transfer speculation surrounding the centre-back.

The 20-year-old moved to the Emirates Stadium from Saint-Etienne in 2019 but is yet to represent the club, instead spending time on loan at Saint-Etienne, Nice and Marseille.

Saliba has been a key player for Marseille this season, making 34 appearances in all competitions, and there has recently been speculation surrounding his future with the Gunners.

Real Madrid, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Sevilla are believed to be interested in signing the Frenchman, but according to ButFootball, the North London club are preparing to open talks with the youngster over a contract extension.

The report claims that Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has been impressed by Saliba's performances during his loan spell at Marseille this season.

The centre-back's current deal with his parent club is due to run until 2024, and the Gunners are believed to be relaxed about the situation despite the recent transfer speculation.
