The brother of Fernando Amorebieta has claimed that the Athletic Bilbao defender is in talks with Arsenal over a summer move.
The Gunners are thought to be keen on boosting their options at the back and have been tracking the 27-year-old for a number of months.
"We have had contacts with Anzhi [Makhachkala], who are very interested in his services, but given the desire to play in England, that move cannot take place," the Venezuelan's brother told Marca. "We are in contact with Arsenal."
Amorebieta has made 15 appearances in all competitions for Bilbao this season.
