The Swans were the side to start better and perhaps should have taken the lead just before the quarter-hour mark when Angel Rangel was picked out with plenty of space on the right of the area.

The Spanish full-back took one touch before blasting at Wojciech Szczesny, who parried and then denied Rangel again on the rebound.

Swansea were taking the game to the Gunners and again had the chance to go ahead when Michu won a header to set Nathan Dyer in on goal but he was denied by a last-ditch challenge from Thomas Vermaelen.

Arsenal came out stronger after the interval, with Santi Cazorla forcing Gerhard Tremmel into a low save before, minutes later, the Spaniard went down in the area but had his penalty appeal waved away by Mark Clattenburg.

Much of Swansea's forward play was going through the rampaging Rangel and the right-back again tested Szczesny after tricking himself a yard of space.

Michu fired into the sidenetting as the visitors continued to press and eventually they were rewarded.

On-fire Michu played a neat one-two with Luke Moore and skipped clear of the Gunners' defence before smashing into the top corner.

It was soon 2-0 as Dyer robbed Carl Jenkinson of the ball and played in Michu, who waited for Szczesny to commit before passing into the corner.

Three points for the Swans puts them ahead of Arsenal and up to sixth as the Gunners drop to 10th.
