Arsenal's Theo Walcott admits that he is keen to play as a centre-forward at international level with England.

Arsenal's Theo Walcott has expressed his eagerness to play as a striker for England.

The 23-year-old has earned 30 caps for the Three Lions, all of which have seen him feature primarily as a winger.

However, having scored 18 goals for the Gunners from a central role on occasions this season, Walcott has admitted that he would like to be handed a similar responsibility for his country.

"Things are going quite well for Arsenal on the right but Daniel [Sturridge] and Jermain [Defoe] are both out so there is an opportunity with England. That is the manager's choice. I trained up front today with Wayne Rooney so you never know," he said.

"I will play anywhere for England and Arsenal but I do believe I'm a striker and I'm sure in the next few years I'll be playing a bit more regularly."

The former Southampton player has scored four goals at international level, including a hat-trick against Croatia back in 2008.
