Robin van Persie: 'Arsene Wenger is the best manager in the world'

Former Arsenal forward Robin van Persie believes that long-time Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is "the best manager in the world".

Robin van Persie has described Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger as "the best manager in the world".

The Dutchman joined the Gunners as a 20-year-old in 2004 and spent eight seasons at the club playing under Wenger.

In 2012, Van Persie joined Manchester United, helping them to a Premier League title in Sir Alex Ferguson's final campaign in charge of the Red Devils.

Despite the controversy surrounding Van Persie's direct transfer to one of Arsenal's greatest rivals, the player insists that he has nothing but good memories of working for Wenger.

"Arsene is just the best manager in the world," the 34-year-old said at his unveiling as a Feyenoord player. "This is why I want him to be successful with Arsenal. He deserves it.

"I owe everything to Arsene Wenger. He has been crucial for me in my development as a player and as a person.

"I only have warm memories. I enjoyed every day, every minute I worked, trained and played for Arsene."

Van Persie began his career at the Rotterdam club and also turned out for Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
