Thierry Henry confirms that he has left his coaching position with Arsenal and says that he 'respects' the decision of Arsene Wenger to remove him.

Thierry Henry has confirmed that he has left his coaching position with Arsenal and said that he 'respects' the decision of Arsene Wenger to remove him.

The Frenchman, who is Arsenal's all-time leading scorer, had been working with the London club's youth players as part of his UEFA A Licence course.

Henry had been coaching the Under-18 team after being offered the position by Andries Jonker, who is the head of Arsenal's academy system.

However, after reportedly refusing to drop his TV punditry work, the 38-year-old left the Emirates and has since taken to Twitter to 'wish the Gunners the best' for the new campaign.

Former Arsenal captain Tony Adams has since taken charge of the Under-18 team, while Henry, who works for BBC Sport and Sky Sports, must find a new team to coach in order to complete his Pro Licence.
