Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira hints at New York City FC stay

Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira hints that he would prefer to remain at New York City FC at this stage of his career, rather than replace Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

Patrick Vieira has suggested that he would prefer to remain at New York City FC at this stage of his managerial career.

On Friday, Arsene Wenger announced that he would step down from his role as Arsenal manager at the end of the season, and Vieira was initially made the early favourite to replace his compatriot.

However, the former Gunners midfielder has hinted that he is enjoying his time in charge of NYCFC and is prepared to wait "a couple of years" to make his next move.

The 41-year-old told radio station WNYE: "I am always flattered to hear my name linked with different football clubs. That is good for your ego but at the same time, I am happy here.

"We will see what will happen in the next couple of years. I spent nine years at Arsenal which makes the club really special for me, but that is not enough to coach the team."

Former Barcelona coach Luis Enrique is allegedly in discussions with Arsenal.
