Joel Campbell wants to fight for Arsenal place

Arsenal forward Joel Campbell says that he wants to capitalise on his recent run in the first team.

Arsenal forward Joel Campbell has stated that he is looking to make the most of his opportunity in the first team.

The Costa Rica international, who has been loaned out to other clubs for the majority of his Gunners career, has started consecutive Premier League games for the first time following injuries to Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Aaron Ramsey.

Campbell has insisted that he is happy at the Emirates Stadium and wants to capitalise on any chance he has to impress manager Arsene Wenger.

"I'm an Arsenal player and I'm very happy here. I'm fighting to achieve my aims and hope to stay here for a long time," the 23-year-old told the club's official website.

"Obviously, as a player you always want to play but we have lots of very good players here, so you have to be patient and make the most of your opportunity when it comes around.

'I'm trying to take advantage of my opportunity but I know that what happens next is up to the manager. As I've said, I'm just focusing on playing and performing as well as possible and the rest is up to him."

Campbell joined Arsenal from Saprissa in August 2011.
