Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola defends Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola defends Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil ahead of the Premier League fixture between the two sides on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has suggested that Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has not deserved the criticism of his performances since the start of the season.

Aside from his display in the 5-2 win at Everton last month, Ozil has struggled for goals and assists at a time when the German continues to be linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium.

However, ahead of the Premier League fixture between the two sides, Guardiola has said that the playmaker's body language could potentially divide the opinion of supporters.

The 46-year-old told reporters: "I don't have doubts about his quality. The criticism is when the team lose and they want a big target.

"Maybe his body language doesn't help him too much. But body language can confuse opinion."

Ozil is a likely starter when Arsenal attempt to become the first team to beat Manchester City this season.
