Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits that his side missed key opportunities as they went down 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that his side missed key opportunities as they went down 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby.

Spurs striker Harry Kane netted the game's only goal at Wembley on Saturday afternoon as the hosts moved above Liverpool into third place in the Premier League table.

Gunners boss Wenger told reporters after the match that his side had chances to earn a win in the first half.

"Possession is 50/50 basically in this game," he said. "The game should have been finished at half time for me. We missed opportunities on the counter attack that are not missable at our level with the final ball.

"The second half we should have lost the game in the early part of it by more than once goal. We were destabilised by the goal and they had two or three opportunities that they could have scored.

"In the final part of the game we should have come back to 1-1. Overall it's mixed feelings because for long periods in the first half, with a bit more quality in our final pass we win this game."

Arsenal play Ostersunds in the first leg of their Europa League last-32 tie on Thursday.
