Arsenal goalkeeper Runar Alex Runarsson has deactivated his Twitter account following his error-strewn performance against Manchester City in the EFL Cup.
The former Dijon shot-stopper did not cover himself in glory for Gabriel Jesus's third-minute opener, and Runarsson then allowed Riyad Mahrez's free kick to squirm through his hands as the winger restored City's lead in the second half.
The Icelandic goalkeeper made a fine save from Jesus earlier in the game, but Runarsson was nevertheless widely criticised on social media for his performance in Arsenal's 4-1 defeat at the Emirates Stadium - and the 25-year-old's Twitter account no longer exists.
Runarsson had previously been forced to delete a number of foul-mouthed tweets regarding former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, which he posted as a 16-year-old back in 2011.
Arsenal sold Emiliano Martinez to Aston Villa for £20m in the summer, but Runarsson only cost the Gunners £1.8m, and the Iceland international has since made five appearances for the club - keeping two clean sheets in the Europa League.
