Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed that winger Raheem Sterling has made progress in recovering from a hamstring problem.
Sterling was ruled out prior to City's EFL Cup win over Arsenal due to the injury, but Guardiola has provided a positive update on the England international's fitness.
"Raheem Sterling is much, much better. I don't know if he can play against Arsenal but hopefully Chelsea or Basel," the Spaniard told reporters at a press conference.
Guardiola also confirmed that midfielder Fernandinho would miss Thursday's league tie with the Gunners after the Brazilian limped off six minutes into the second half at Wembley.
City could restore their 16-point advantage over Manchester United in the table with victory over Arsene Wenger's side.
