Preview: Accrington Stanley vs. Doncaster Rovers - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Tuesday's FA Cup clash between Accrington Stanley and Doncaster Rovers, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Accrington Stanley and Doncaster Rovers will re-commence battle when they go toe-to-toe in Tuesday's FA Cup replay.

The winner of the first-round tie will go on to face one of Salford City or Peterborough United at the start of December

Accrington managed to force the replay after coming from behind on two occasions to draw with Doncaster at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Shaun Whalley's 74th-minute equaliser looked to be in vain after Harrison Biggins restored Doncaster's advantage, but Seamus Conneely levelled the scoring to keep Accrington in the draw.

Despite avoiding defeat in the original tie, the 2-2 draw has formed part of a three-game winless run, which has seen them lose league games to Colchester United and Crawley Town.

In Saturday's outing against the West Sussex club, John Coleman's side took the lead through Jon Nolan, but a brace from Crawley's Danilo Orsi and a Will Wright effort ultimately condemned Accrington to a 3-1 defeat.

Accrington Stanley, who occupy eighth place in the League Two table, will look to return to winning ways in Tuesday's replay, as they try to reach the second round for successive seasons.

In contrast to their hosts, the reverse fixture helped Doncaster put together a three-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

The 2-2 draw was preceded by a narrow league win over Grimsby Town, before they claimed a 2-1 victory over Burton Albion in last Tuesday's EFL Trophy meeting.

However, Grant McCann's side saw their encouraging spell of form come to an end on Saturday as they fell to a 2-0 defeat against AFC Wimbledon, leaving them in 20th place with seven points separating them from the relegation zone and the playoffs.

Saturday's result also represented Doncaster's fourth loss in five away matches, which will leave them light on confidence ahead of Tuesday's fixture.

The visitors will be looking to claim their first victory at the Wham Stadium, having lost all of their previous four competitive away meetings with Accrington.

Team News

The hosts will go into the midweek contest without the injured quartet of Jamie Sterry, Tommy Rowe, Adam Long and George Miller.

Joseph Olowu is also a doubt for the cup tie after the defender was forced off in the 25th minute of the weekend's loss to Wimbledon.

After featuring as a substitute at the weekend, midfielder Ben Close and forward Joe Ironside are both in contention to start against Accrington.

The visitors, meanwhile, are still unable to call upon long-term injury absentees Sean McConville, Seb Quirk, Liam Coyle and Toby Savin.

Defender Brad Hills will also miss out after he received a straight red card in the second half of Saturday's defeat to Crawley.

In more positive news, Leigh is available following a one-match ban and the midfielder is expected to come straight back into the starting lineup.

Accrington Stanley possible starting lineup:
McCracken; Mellor, Gubbins, Rich-Baghuelou, Longelo-Mbule; Woods, Martin; Pritchard, Leigh, Nolan; Adedoyin

Doncaster Rovers possible starting lineup:
Jones; Nixon, Bailey, Anderson, Senior; Broadbent, Westbrooke, Close, Molyneux; Ironside, Faal

We say: Accrington Stanley 2-1 Doncaster Rovers

Doncaster have proven to be poor travellers in recent times, having lost four of their last five competitive away matches.

Meanwhile, Accrington have claimed three wins in their previous five home games, and we think that they will make full use of home advantage to record a narrow victory.
