AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri believes that Brazilian duo Alexandre Pato and Robinho can combine to improve the club's fortunes this season.

AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri has insisted that Brazilian duo Robinho and Alexandre Pato can help his side climb the Serie A table.

Allegri has endured a turbulent start to the season, struggling to compensate for losing key players Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva to Paris Saint-Germain in the close season.

Milan trail Juventus by 12 points after just seven matches, sitting in an unfamiliar 11th place in the standings.

Allegri believes that Pato can combine with Robinho to deadly effect when he makes a return to full fitness in the coming weeks.

He told the club's official website: "Robinho will be very important for us this season, and from Pato we're expecting goals.

"What we're paying for in the league is the wasted chances we've had, and that's why I'm not worried.

"The first thing we have to do to improve is to find continuity in our results, it is so important to rise again."

Milan resume their Serie A campaign with a trip to the Italian capital to face Lazio next weekend.
