England's Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix and Eden Cheng win silver in the women's 3m synchro at the Commonwealth Games, as Robyn Birch and Emily Martin take the bronze.

England ended a phenomenal day of diving with another pair of medals in the women's 3m synchro competition at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Fresh from winning gold in the individual 10m final, Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix joined forces with Eden Cheng to battle compatriots Robyn Birch and Emily Martin.

Spendolini-Sirieix and Cheng topped the rankings after dive one before plummeting down the standings as the competition went on, but they ultimately did enough to win the silver medal with 298.86 points.

Before the pair took to the board for their final dive, Birch and Martin - who were hovering around the podium spots - guaranteed themselves at least a silver medal by scoring 62.40 on their two-and-a-half piked back somersaults with one-a-half twists.

Spendolini-Sirieix and Cheng were last up with the same dive and upped their compatriots' scores on both execution and synchronisation to storm into the silver medal spot, with Birch and Martin winning bronze after totalling 287.88 points.

There was no stopping Australia from taking the gold medal home, though, as Charli Petrov and Melissa Wu finished over seven points clear of Spendolini-Sirieix and Cheng with 306.00.

Earlier in the day, Daniel Goodfellow, Jordan Houlden and Jack Laugher completed a clean sweep of medals for England in the men's 3m springboard competition.
