Scotland's most capped scrum-half Mike Blair announces his retirement from international rugby.

Scotland scrum-half Mike Blair has announced his decision to retire from international rugby.

The 31-year-old has decided to call time on his career with 85 appearances under his belt, making him the most capped scrum-half for the national side.

"I'm in the very fortunate position of being able to decide myself when my international career ends," BBC Sport quotes Blair as saying. "For me, that time is now.

"A place in the squad at the World Cup in 2015 is not a realistic personal target and, with that in mind, it's right for Scottish rugby and the Scotland team, that other players gain experience in a pivotal position."

Blair, who captained his country 14 times, moved from Edinburgh to Brive in the summer.
