Mark Hughes demands Stoke City improvement

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes demands an improvement from his players from yesterday's 3-0 defeat to Chelsea as he looks to secure a top-half finish for the club.

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has demanded an improvement from his players following yesterday's 3-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea.

The Potters went into the match at Stamford Bridge on the back of a five-game unbeaten streak that included four victories, but they were well beaten by Jose Mourinho's title-chasing side.

Hughes is eyeing the club's first ever top-half finish in the Premier League and has warned his side that they would need to rediscover their March form in order to make that happen.

"It's a wake-up call for us. We need to get back to where we have been in the last few weeks," Hughes is quoted as saying by PA.

"We've still got things we need to achieve this year. We've got five games to go and we still have the opportunity to do that.

"It was always a big ask to come here, but I expected my team to do better. With five games to go, I expect my players to do better."

In addition to their highest ever league finish, Stoke need eight more points for their highest points tally, four more wins for the most amount of victories and another nine goals for their best-ever goal return in the Premier League.
