Nabil Bentaleb delighted by Tottenham Hotspur debut

Nabil Bentaleb expresses his delight at making his Tottenham Hotspur senior debut during Sunday's 3-2 win over Southampton.

Nabil Bentaleb has expressed his delight at making his Tottenham Hotspur senior debut during Sunday's win over Southampton in the Premier League.

The 19-year-old French defender came on as a second-half substitute at St Mary's Stadium as Spurs earned a 3-2 victory against the Saints.

Despite admitting that he felt nervous before entering the action, Bentaleb believes that he gave a good account of himself on the pitch.

"It felt great," he told the club's official website. "It was a pleasure. I've waited for that moment and I'm very proud.

"I felt nervous before I went on but once that calmed down and I got the first touch, I felt full of confidence. From there, I played my normal game.

"There is still more to come. This is only the start. I have to keep working hard and hopefully everything will go right for me."

Spurs return to Premier League action on Boxing Day when they welcome West Bromwich Albion to White Hart Lane.
