The result has seen Spain stay three points clear of second-place Italy, who recorded a 1-0 win at home to Israel, with just two fixtures left to play in the section.

Evening all! Sports Mole's live 2018 World Cup qualification coverage continues from Vaduz as Liechtenstein welcome Spain in Group G. In truth, it should be an extremely routine victory for the visitors tonight, but Luxembourg held France to a goalless draw on Sunday night, showing that anything can happen in the beautiful game we call football. Stay tuned for live coverage of the action!

Tonight will be the eighth meeting between Liechtenstein and Spain, and it will not come as a surprise to learn that Spain have won each of the previous seven meetings. That includes an 8-0 success back in September, with La Roja scoring seven times in the second period to record a huge win. In all honesty, it is going to take a miracle for the home side to harm Spain tonight.

Right, without further ado, let me bring you up-to-speed with the all-important team news from this Group G clash. Has Spain boss Julen Lopetegui made any changes to the XI that started against Italy on Saturday? Let's have a look at the two teams that will take to the field in Vaduz...

TEAMS!

LIECH: Jehle; Quintans, Malin, Kaufmann, Goppel; Buchel; Salanovic, Hasler, Wieser, Burgmeier; Polverino

SPAIN: De Gea; Ramos, Pique, Monreal; Thiago, Busquets, Iniesta, Silva; Isco, Morata, Pedro

Liechtenstein have 35-year-old Franz Burgmeier in their XI, with the Vaduz midfielder winning his 109th cap. He is also the top scorer in the Liechtenstein squad on nine goals, but the captain's armband is again worn by experienced goalkeeper Peter Jehle, who made his international debut back in 1998. Reading's Sandro Wieser is also included as the 24-year-old wins his 40th cap.

Spain boss Julen Lopetegui, meanwhile, has made four changes to the team that started against Italy, with Nacho Monreal, Thiago, Alvaro Morata and Pedro replacing Dani Carvajal, Jordi Alba, Koke and Marco Asensio. It appears that La Roja will play three at the back tonight, with a number of attacking players further forward. It could be a long, long night for the home side here.

So there we have it. The two teams are in, and we are now just about 10 minutes from kickoff tonight. Spain currently top the group on 19 points after recording a 3-0 victory over Italy on Saturday. Isco scored twice in what was a very impressive La Roja win, and another victory here would leave Spain just four points from guaranteeing their spot at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Spain have won six of their seven matches in this section, with their only dropped points occurring away to Italy last October. They have scored 24 times and conceded just three, and will fancy their chances of further improving their goal difference tonight. Italy will expect to beat Israel tonight, but Spain are now in pole position to top this particular qualifying group.

As for Liechtenstein, Rene Pauritsch's team will enter this match off the back of a 2-0 defeat in Albania at the weekend. The Blues-Reds have never qualified for the finals of a major tournament, and they are currently bottom of Group G on zero points. The hosts tonight have only actually scored one Group G goal, and a total of 26 conceded does not make good reading for the nation.

Here we go then. The national anthems have been sung, the flags have been exchanged, and the handshakes have been undertaken. It is time for this Group G clash in Vaduz to get underway!

KICKOFF! Spain kick things off here...

... Spain are in all-white tonight, while Liechtenstein are sporting blue shirts and red shorts. As expected, Spain have immediately taken control of the possession as they pass and probe.

It has been a very, very nervy start from Liechtenstein as they slice a couple of clearances, before conceding a free kick in a very dangerous area. Silva is standing over the set piece here...

... GOAL! Liechtenstein 0-1 Spain (Ramos)

Spain take the lead in the third minute as Ramos rises to head a Silva free kick past Jehle!

This could be anything that Spain want it to be. The away side are so comfortable as they continue to move the ball at pace, and it would not surprises me if Spain had possession statistics in the region of 85% at the end of this match. It has been utter domination from La Roja from the onset.

SAVE! Jehle flies across his goal to keep out a curling effort from Isco!

Half-chance for Morata this time as Silva delivers a dangerous cross into the home side's box, but the Chelsea forward can only turn wide of the post under pressure. Could already be 3-0 here.

It is like a training session at the moment as Liechtenstein stay camped outside their own box while Spain pass and probe in the final third. La Roja put eight goals past Liechtenstein in the reverse match, and it would not be a surprise to see something like that tonight. One-way traffic in Vaduz.

Spain might be dominating the ball, but Liechtenstein are defending quite well at the moment, with full-backs Goppel and Quintans coming inside to help their two centre-backs deal with the threat. Morata has a half-chance from a corner, but the Chelsea forward's header is over the crossbar.

GOAL! Liechtenstein 0-2 Spain (Morata)

Spain double their lead in the 15th minute as Morata heads an Iniesta cross into the back of the net. Again, it is too easy for the visitors, who are absolutely flying at the moment.

GOAL! Liechtenstein 0-3 Spain (Isco)

It is three for Spain as a terrible mistake from Jehle sees the home side's goalkeeper present the ball straight to Morata, who squares for Isco to find the net. It is a horror show from Jehle there.

Spain could win this 11-0 if they wanted, but you suspect that the visitors might have some mercy in the second period. It begs the question - should games like this be allowed? It is great for Liechtenstein to play against Spain, but getting absolutely thumped time and time again cannot be nice.

Pass, pass, pass from Spain as they continue to ask questions of the Liechtenstein defence.

Italy are still 0-0 at home to Israel, which would make Spain's night even better. In truth, it is going to take a miracle for Italy to catch Spain - a revitalised Spain - at the top of the group.

GOAL DISALLOWED! Morata has the ball in the back of the net for Spain, but the offside flag is raised. The striker was level though! That should have stood, no question!

Hasler continues to stand up front for the home side, but the number 18 has simply not been involved in this football match. It has been a training exercise for Spain - no more than that.

SAVE! Smart save from Jehle to keep out a curling strike from Morata.

Hasler finally has the chance to carry the ball, but the Liechtenstein forward is hounded out by three white shirts, and normal service is resumed. You have to feel for the home side here.

Goppel has just been on the floor for the last 60 seconds or so. I am not sure whether the number three is injured, or simply giving his teammates the chance to have a rest. Quite probably the latter!

Little under 10 minutes of the first period remaining, and it has been a first period dominated by Spain. The score is 3-0, but it could be six or seven such has been their dominance. La Roja are again approaching 80% possession as we enter the final stages of a difficult first half for the hosts.

CHANCE! Isco delivers a super cross towards the far post, but Morata cannot make contact! Morata has his goal tonight, but the Chelsea forward might well have scored three or four.

Burgmeier is now down writhing in agony as Liechtenstein look to have another rest.

There has not been a single yellow card in this first period, but there has been some tasty challenges, no question about that. Malin has been late on a couple of occasions, although the referee has not been prepared to produce a card. Still 3-0 Spain late in the first period here.

GOAL! Liechtenstein 0-4 Spain (Silva)

Silva makes it 4-0 as Spain as the Man City attacker sends a brilliant free kick into the top corner!

SAVE! Super chance for the home side following a slip from De Gea, but Polverino cannot find a route past the Manchester United goalkeeper, who makes the save!

Pass, pass, pass from Spain as they look to pass the home side into submission here.

Liechtenstein continue to come under pressure as Spain force a couple of corners in quick succession. The delivery from Silva and Iniesta tonight has been absolutely wonderful.

HALF-TIME: Liechtenstein 0-4 Spain

So there we have it. The referee brings the first period to a close with Spain leading 4-0 courtesy of goals from Ramos, Morata, Isco and Silva. In truth, Spain could be eight or nine goals ahead at the interval. It has been every bit as one-sided as expected. Still another 45 minutes to play here!

STATISTICS! Spain have enjoyed 76% of the ball in the first period, while the visitors managed 11 attempts - eight of which were on target, and four of which brought goals. Liechtenstein, meanwhile, hit the target with their only attempt - Polverino bringing a routine save from De Gea.

BENCH WATCH! Asensio, Aspas, Deulofeu, Suso, Lucas and Saul are among those that will be hoping to feature for Spain in the second period, and it would not be a surprise to see Lopetegui make all three changes quite early. Liechtenstein, meanwhile, have options in the shape of Frick, Ritter and Wolfinger. It has quickly become a damage limitation exercise for the home side tonight.

RESTART! Liechtenstein resume the action here...

... SPAIN SUBS! Aspas and Nacho have replaced Ramos and Silva.

Normal service has been resumed at the start of the second period as Spain continue to force the issue. It 4-0 at the moment, I am going with 8-0 at full-time. It could be anything to be honest.

Pedro dances into a shooting position before releasing, but Kaufmann makes the block. Pedro is desperate to get his name on the scoresheet here as he hits another one, which again is blocked.

GOAL! Liechtenstein 0-5 Spain (Aspas)

Spain have their fifth as Aspas fires home from close range after Morata's header smashed the crossbar and dropped kindly for the Celta forward! That is just his second goal for Spain.

GOAL! Liechtenstein 0-6 Spain (Morata)

Spain have their sixth of the night as Morata rolls the ball home from close range after collecting a pass from Aspas. I am not too sure where the Liechtenstein defence went in that moment!

BOOKING! Wieser (Liechtenstein) is booked for a poor tackle on Thiago.

SPAIN SUB! Deulofeu replaces Isco for Spain.

SAVE! Jehle produces a super save to keep out Morata's goal-bound header!

LIECHTENSTEIN SUB! Quintans is replaced by Yildiz.

SAVE! Another smart save from Jehle to keep out Deulofeu's low strike!

GOAL! Liechtenstein 0-7 Spain (Aspas)

Aspas smashes the ball past Jehle from close range to make it 7-0 Spain.

Spain are not letting up here as they continue to move the ball in the final third of the field. Can the visitors reach double figures? There is still a lot of football to be played in this Group G clash.

Pass, pass, pass from Spain as they continue to pull the home side all over the pitch.

Nacho rises highest at the far post, but his header drops wide as the score stays at seven.

Not an awful lot to report in terms of chances in the last couple of minutes, but Spain are still in complete control as they pass and probe in the final third. Can the visitors reach double figures?!

CHANCE! Super chance for Monreal, but he heads an Iniesta free kick over!

Little over 15 minutes of normal time remaining here, and there are some tired legs out there. Spain continue to dominate the ball, and you have to feel for the Liechtenstein players chasing around.

Liechtenstein manage to force two corners in quick succession, but the danger is cleared on both occasions, and Pique can afford a smile after clashing with Hasler. Still 7-0 Spain here.

LIECHTENSTEIN SUB! Polverino is replaced by Sele for the final 10 minutes or so.

Thiago curls one over the crossbar at the end of a long passing move.

BOOKING! Busquets (Spain) is booked for a foul on Wieser.

LIECHTENSTEIN SUB! Burgmeier is replaced by S.Wolfinger.

Little over five minutes of normal time remaining, and you still get the feeling that there is at least one more goal in this match. In fairness to the hosts, they are playing quite well at the moment.

Iniesta misses the crossbar with an effort from distance.

GOAL! Liechtenstein 0-8 (Goppel, OG)

Spain have their eighth of the night as Deulofeu's attempt hits Goppel and drops into the back of the net! That might well go down as an own goal for the unfortunate number three.

Nacho heads a Deulofeu corner over the crossbar, and that could be that for this match.

FULL-TIME: Liechtenstein 0-8 Spain

So there we have it. The referee brings the second period to a close with Spain recording an 8-0 win over Group G minnows Liechtenstein to take another big step towards the 2018 World Cup! Thanks for joining Sports Mole for our live coverage once again. Until next time!
