Jordy Clasie not ready for Southampton return against Swansea City

Jordy Clasie is not ready to make his first Premier League appearance for Southampton against Swansea City as he nears full recovery from an ankle ligament injury.

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has revealed that Jordy Clasie is not quite fit enough to make his Premier League debut this weekend against Swansea City.

Clasie, 24, joined the Saints from Feyenoord this summer and made his debut in the Europa League qualifying round against Vitesse in July.

However, he has not played since due to an ankle ligament injury. Koeman said today that his fellow Dutchman was making good progress and would be ready for the game with Chelsea on October 3, but not available against the Swans.

"He's doing normal training with the rest of the players but he's not available for the weekend," Koeman told reporters.

Koeman also confirmed at his pre-match press conference that left-back Ryan Bertrand was fully fit again after making his first appearance of the season in last night's 6-0 demolition of MK Dons in the Capital One Cup.
