Aldershot, Leyton Orient and Southampton all progress to round three of the Carling Cup.

Aldershot, Leyton Orient and Southampton have all booked their place in the third round of the Carling Cup.

West Ham United's conquerors in the previous round, Aldershot, recorded a 2-0 home victory over Carlisle United courtesy of goals from Michael Rankine and Danny Livesey.

The Shots will now face a home tie against Rochdale in round three.

Orient were the winners by the odd goal in five against Bristol Rovers, with captain Stephen Dawson claiming a stoppage time winner at Brisbane Road.

There is to be no cup run for new Swindon boss Paolo Di Canio after his side lost 3-1 at home to Southampton. Striker Rickie Lambert was among the goals for the Saints.

The Championship side will entertain either Preston North End or Charlton Athletic in the next round.
