Zinedine Zidane insists he has "full backing" of Real Madrid board

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane insists that he has the full backing of the club's board amid their inconsistent start to the campaign.

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has affirmed that he retains the full support of the Blancos hierarchy amid mounting speculation over his Bernabeu future.

Los Blancos have made a stuttering start to their La Liga title defence, and Real's hopes of advancing in the Champions League hang in the balance following a 2-0 defeat at Shakhtar Donetsk.

Zidane is coming under increasing pressure to deliver results in the Spanish capital, with Mauricio Pochettino reportedly lined up as the Frenchman's replacement should he indeed get the sack.

However, Zidane has insisted that he has the full support of the Real board, telling reporters at a press conference: "Yes, I have the club's complete backing.

"I can't be satisfied when we lose a game, but we know where we are. We're lucky enough to be able to fight and give our all for this club and that's what I'll do until my last day.

"The players want to compete (for trophies), to play and they've always shown me warmth. We know that together we will come through this. When things don't go right, they're the first people who aren't happy.

"In tough times we need to pull together and in the same direction. We'll get through this."

Los Blancos next face a stern test at Sevilla in La Liga before their final Champions League group game against Borussia Monchengladbach next Wednesday, with Zidane's side currently third in Group B after five matches.
