Luis Figo: 'Great players are sometimes overlooked'

Former Portuguese star Luis Figo claims that he has "possibly" played with better players than Barcelona attacker Lionel Messi and Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo.

Former Portuguese star Luis Figo has claimed that he "possibly" played with better players than Barcelona attacker Lionel Messi and Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo during his era.

Messi and Ronaldo are generally considered as the two standout players in the modern game, while many also view the pair as two of the best in the history of the sport.

Figo has lavished praise on the duo, but claimed that he also played with some "great players" during his career.

"Messi and Cristiano are players who make the difference more so than anyone else," he told reporters. "I've had the pleasure of playing alongside great players, both as teammates and opponents, possibly better than Cristiano and Messi."

Figo represented Sporting Lisbon, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter Milan during a successful playing career.
