Peterborough United appoint Graham Westley as new manager

Peterborough United announce the appointment of Graham Westley as the club's new manager.

Peterborough United have announced that Graham Westley has been appointed as the League One club's new manager.

The club have been hunting for a permanent boss following the dismissal of Dave Robertson just over a fortnight ago.

Rotherham United boss Steve Evans had been linked to the vacancy, but Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony has opted to hire former Preston North End manager Westley, who had been out of work since leaving Stevenage in May.

A statement on Peterborough's official website from MacAnthony read: "Before we ever spoke or met, I read all the various things written about Graham's time at Preston, his apparent preference in style of football and his apparent obsession with fitness and physicality over style, flair and fast free flowing football. To judge somebody on the views of others is something I'm never prepared to do without meeting and judging for myself.

"I myself am often judged on some of the ludicrous nonsense written about me online or by people with agendas against me. Graham has a burning desire to win, succeed and add to his previous success which includes multiple promotions, league titles and multiple cup wins at Wembley not to mention a near 50% win record.

"Graham Westley has achieved his success at what are so called unfashionable clubs and the one blip on his CV doesn't mean that he should be blackballed and blacklisted from working in football and at Peterborough United."

The club are currently 18th in the league table after eight games.
