Steve Evans quiet on Peterborough United links

Steve Evans insists that all of his focus is on helping Rotherham United, rather than getting involved in speculation linking him with the Peterborough United job.

Steve Evans has insisted that he has 'not been distracted' by speculation linking him with the vacant managerial position at Peterborough United.

The Rotherham United boss emerged as the favourite to take over at London Road due to his close links with the League One club.

Evans lives in Peterborough and has family members who support the Posh, but he claims that all of his focus right now is on helping Rotherham in their aim of surviving the Championship drop this season.

"It's no distraction for me," the 52-year-old is quoted as saying by ITV Sport. "I have nothing to say about Peterborough United. My focus has been on Charlton and Brighton in the space of four days.

"The chairman has given me his support. That's no surprise to Steve Evans. The surprise is the other drivel that comes with it. I refrained from saying anything in the lead-up to Saturday. It would have been disrespectful to Peterborough United for me to talk about it.

"I said to the vice-chairman earlier in the week that I would not be distracted, that I wouldn't talk about. I'm only going to talk about it when we wake up after Brighton."

Dave Robertson was sacked as Peterborough manager last week after picking up four points from the opening six games of the campaign.
