Adebayo Akinfenwa is among seven players to have been released by League Two side Northampton Town.

Northampton Town have released seven players, including centre-forward Adebayo Akinfenwa.

The Cobblers have taken the decision to let the 31-year-old go after they had failed to gain promotion via the League Two playoffs.

John Johnson, Louis Moult, Jake Robinson, Lewis Wilson, Paul Turnbull and Seth Nana Twumasi have also been told that they can find new clubs.

"We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to all of the departing players for their efforts and wish them well in their future careers," read a statement on the club's official website.

Meanwhile, Luke Guttridge and Roy O'Donovan have been offered new contracts to remain at Sixfields.
