Half-Time Report: Emanuele Ledesma stunner gives Middlesbrough lead against Burnley

Emanuele Ledesema's second goal of the season gives Middlesbrough a 1-0 half-time lead over Championship leaders Burnley at the Riverside Stadium.

Emanuele Ledesema's second goal of the season has given Middlesbrough a 1-0 half-time lead over Championship leaders Burnley at the Riverside Stadium.

The Argentine forward, who was also on target in Saturday's 2-0 win at Millwall, broke the deadlock on 24 minutes with an effort from long range.

Ledesema collected the ball from Marvin Emnes, before unleashing a fierce drive that bounced just in front of goalkeeper Tom Heaton.

Middlesbrough have been the better side so far, while Ledesema has been the star of the show.

Marvin Emnes and Lukas Jutkiewicz both went close early on, before Ledesma very nearly sent Albert Adomah through on goal with a clever attempted pass.

Ledesma then worried Heaton with two fizzing efforts from outside of the penalty area, before he eventually opened the scoring.

Burnley improved towards the end of the half and Sam Vokes forced a terrific save out of Shay Given, although the flag was up for offside.

Given was called into action again moments later. This time, the offside trap was breached, but Danny Ings's goal-bound header was brilliantly kept out by the Irish stopper.
