Manchester United reportedly plan to scout 20-year-old Rennes and Ghana attacker Kamaldeen Sulemana at the 2022 World Cup.

Manchester United are reportedly preparing to scout Rennes and Ghana attacker Kamaldeen Sulemana at the 2022 World Cup.

The 20-year-old left Danish outfit Nordsjaelland in the summer of 2021 to sign for Bruno Genesio's side, commanding a £13.5m fee in the process.

Sulemana's time at Rennes has been blighted by injuries so far, but he has nevertheless managed to make an impact in the Rouges et Noir XI when fully fit.

The Ghana international has six goals and four assists from 41 games for the French outfit in all tournaments, including four strikes in Ligue 1 last season.

In the early stages of the 2022-23 season, Sulemana has one goal and two assists to boast from 14 matches, although he has only made two starts in the top flight.

Nevertheless, Sulemana is expected to be named in the Ghana squad for the 2022 World Cup, having already made 12 appearances for his country and making their Africa Cup of Nations team.

According to The Guardian - via the Manchester Evening News - Man United will be keeping a close eye on how Sulemana performs at the World Cup.

The report adds that Erik ten Hag's team will be one of several sides keeping tabs on the youngster, but Rennes are under no pressure to sell if interest in him grows over the next few months.

Sulemana is under contract at Roazhon Park until the end of the 2025-26 season, meaning that Rennes can afford to demand a hefty fee to sanction the 20-year-old's sale.

Ghana will tackle Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea in World Cup Group H, kicking off their campaign against the Euro 2016 winners in Doha on November 24.

Man United are already well-stocked out wide, with Antony, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Elanga competing for starts on a weekly basis under Ten Hag.

Meanwhile, Alejandro Garnacho was handed his full debut in last week's Europa League win over Sheriff Tiraspol, and Facundo Pellistri is also waiting in the wings for an opportunity to impress.

However, Anthony Martial has been plagued by injury problems throughout the season, and speculation over Cristiano Ronaldo's future has intensified since his refusal to come on as a substitute against Tottenham Hotspur.

The 37-year-old has made the first XI for the Red Devils' last two matches after getting back into Ten Hag's good books, but he is widely expected to leave on a free transfer next summer, which should see Man United in the market for at least one new forward.
