Manchester United board members are reportedly concerned about Erik ten Hag's ability to handle big-name players and egos in the dressing room.

Members of the Manchester United board are reportedly growing increasingly concerned about Erik ten Hag's ability to manage big-name players in the dressing room.

The Dutch manager, lauded in the previous season for his management of Cristiano Ronaldo, has distanced three additional players, which the United board has not received well.

The trio of players in question includes former team captain Harry Maguire, Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho.

The United boss has also been criticised for handling off-field issues poorly, particularly those surrounding Greenwood and Brazilian international Antony.

Football Insider reports that there is a growing concern within the Manchester United board about Ten Hag's ability to manage big egos in the dressing room.

The report adds that there is an emerging perception that the Dutchman may be lacking the interpersonal skills required to bring together an entire dressing room filled with global talent and their accompanying egos.

In addition, there are further concerns around the influence of Ten Hag's agent, Kees Vos, who has played a crucial role in finalising certain transfer deals, such as those for Rasmus Hojlund and Sofyan Amrabat.

United have lost six of their 11 matches in the Premier League this season and are at the bottom of their group in the Champions League after losing their first two matches.

They will resume their Premier League campaign this weekend with a match against Sheffield United.
