Preview: Manchester United vs. Everton

Sports Mole looks ahead to Manchester United's home encounter against David Moyes's former side Everton on Wednesday night.

Having served Everton for 11 years as manager, David Moyes will come up against the Merseysiders for the first time on Wednesday evening since he left the club in the summer to take charge of Manchester United.

There won't have been many people at that point who would have predicted that Moyes's new side would be below his former team in the Premier League table after 13 matches, but that is how they head into this encounter.

The Toffees, now managed by Roberto Martinez, will travel to Old Trafford in fifth, while United are three places adrift in eighth.

It is not clear if Robin van Persie will return to the United squad for the match, having sat out recent fixtures with groin and toe injuries.

However, Phil Jones will miss out because of suspension, which could see a 40-year-old Ryan Giggs recalled to midfield alongside either Tom Cleverley or Marouane Fellaini.

Meanwhile, Martinez has no new concerns for the match. Only recent injury absentees Darron Gibson, Arouna Kone and Leighton Baines are not available.

The visitors have not won at Old Trafford since August 1992 when Peter Beardsley was among the goalscorers in a 3-0 victory.
