Manchester United will again be missing French forward Anthony Martial for Sunday's Premier League clash with Arsenal.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has revealed that Anthony Martial will again be absent for Sunday's Premier League clash with Arsenal at Old Trafford.

Following an impressive pre-season, Martial was widely expected to start the 2022-23 campaign as the team's first-choice centre-forward, but he missed the first two games of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford due to a hamstring issue.

The France international featured off the bench against Liverpool on August 22, but he was then absent from the 1-0 win over Southampton and Leicester City due to an Achilles issue.

Man United had been hopeful that Martial would be back for Sunday's game with table-topping Arsenal, but the 26-year-old has been ruled out of the match with the Gunners.

"Anthony Martial will not be involved on Sunday," Ten Hag told reporters after the 1-0 win over Leicester. "I cannot tell at this moment (when he will be available again)."

Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw were also missing from the squad against Leicester with issues, and Ten Hag is unsure when the duo will be available once again.

"It's difficult to say when I talk about Luke Shaw and Aaron," said the club's head coach.

Facundo Pellistri, Brandon Williams, Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe and Mason Greenwood will also be missing from the squad for the visit of Arsenal, who have a 100% record after five matches.

Man United did not pick up any fresh issues in the 1-0 win over the Foxes, though, and both Casemiro and Cristiano Ronaldo will be pushing for starts at Old Trafford this weekend.

"I have seen Arsenal, a tough opponent, they have started really well as we all know in the season, and you can see there is a team who are [a] long [time] together, with a coach who brings his philosophy in the team," added Ten Hag.

"So, this is a good test and I'm really looking forward [to it]. We will pick the right XI to start but as you see, it's not only a team, we have a squad and also, today (Thursday), the subs who came on did really well so I'm happy with that. That is what we have to construct further.

"I have seen some good stuff but it's more than details. I see structures are coming, we are constructing. That is good to see but we have to do that and improve from game to game and [do that with] work on the training ground, work on the video and work in the games.

"I think it's about formation, about getting and creating lines and then making the right decisions. Also, the decisions on the ball, but also out of possession, we are making a good step, we have a base but there is still a lot of room for improvement."

Man United lost their opening two games of the Premier League season against Brighton and Brentford but have won their last three against Liverpool, Southampton and Leicester.
