Thierry Henry: 'Manchester United loss is massive setback for CL hopes'

Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry describes Manchester United's loss to West Bromwich Albion as a "massive setback" for their hopes of finishing in the top four.

Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has said that Manchester United's 1-0 defeat at the hands of West Bromwich Albion is a "massive setback" to their Champions League hopes.

United's four-match winning streak in all competitions came to an end at The Hawthorns this afternoon as Salomon Rondon scored the only goal of the game after Juan Mata had been sent off for the visitors.

Henry refused to rule the Red Devils out of top-four contention entirely, with only a three-point gap to Manchester City, but he acknowledged that Louis van Gaal's side have made it difficult for themselves.

"It is a massive setback. [Van Gaal] is upset at the sending-off of Juan Mata and the goal they conceded was not because they were down to ten men, they could have defended that a bit better," Henry told Sky Sports News.

"They had a lot of possession, they arrived here on a high, but they are still in the mix. They played a lot of games and it was always going to be difficult here, but it is a blow."

Man City also have a game in hand over their local rivals.
