Pep Guardiola: 'Wayne Rooney will play'

Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola says that he expects Wayne Rooney to overcome a toe injury to play for Manchester United in the Champions League.

Pep Guardiola has said that he expects his Bayern Munich side to face Wayne Rooney when they play the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Manchester United tomorrow.

The striker missed United's game against Newcastle United with a toe injury at the weekend, and may need an injection in order to be involved at the Allianz Arena.

The German champions' manager told reporters: "He is going to play. 100%. He is going to play I bet you a big, big glass of beer.

"I believe he is going to play, and [Antonio] Valencia too. Rooney is going to play. He is a big player."

Rooney has 18 goals in all competitions so far this season.
