Christian Gourcuff: '4-0 defeat wasn't too bad'

Lorient coach Christian Gourcuff does not believe that his team's 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain was a terrible result.

Lorient coach Christian Gourcuff has shrugged off last night's 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain by stating that the gap between the two teams was just "too big".

The 58-year-old, whose team have lost six of their last eight games, suggested that he was content with the final score, which leaves Les Merlus 17th in Ligue 1.

"Losing 4-0, we've come out of it well against a good team," Ligue1.com quotes him as saying. "On the other hand, we didn't see my team. The gap was too big.

"I repeat: it wasn't too bad to lose by such a score. We held out two minutes, but as often when opponents accelerate, it's difficult to match them, and PSG have an extraordinary ability to do that.

"It's the kind of match upon which there is nothing much to say."

Lorient play host to Reims next Saturday.
