Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers confident ahead of Merseyside derby

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers admits that his side are relishing the challenge of facing Everton in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed that his side are confident ahead of kickoff in the Merseyside derby against Everton.

Reports have suggested that the 42-year-old could be sacked by the club should they lose to the Toffees at Goodison Park following their underwhelming start to the campaign.

However, Rodgers is adamant that his side are upbeat ahead of the fixture, but has insisted that they have to avoid mistakes in the match to secure the three points.

Rodgers told Sky Sports News: "We go into the game with confidence. It will be a tense game but they always are.

"In my time, we have made too many mistakes defensively but going forward we have been creative and dynamic. If we can cut out the mistakes and score goals that will bode well for us."
