Liverpool coach Mike Marsh expecting tight affair against Chelsea

Liverpool coach Mike Marsh says that he is expecting a tight affair when the Reds visit Chelsea on Sunday.

Liverpool coach Mike Marsh has revealed that he is expecting a tight affair when the Reds travel to champions Chelsea on Sunday.

Brendan Rodgers's side were beaten 2-1 by Jose Mourinho's men in the reverse fixture at Anfield back in November, and were knocked out of the League Cup at the semi-final stage by the Blues back in January.

Marsh admitted that the trip to Stamford Bridge is a daunting one, and he challenged the players to take their chances when they arrive against the champions.

He told the club's official website: "I think [the game] will be pretty much like when we played them in the two semi-final games. We need to take our chances when they present themselves. I don't think we did that in the semi-final as we had chances to go ahead and put the game to bed which we never. We have got to be more clinical on Sunday.

"Over the two legs it was really tight and it could have gone one way or the other, but unfortunately Chelsea had a little bit too much for us in the game. It's a big game for us on Sunday. They are the best team in the league and it's going to be difficult, but we're well prepared for it and we'll see how we go.

"It's too late to spoil the party because they have just been crowned champions but we don't need any extra motivation. We will go to
Chelsea and try and get the three points to help us try and qualify for the Champions League, so we don't need any extra motivation."

Rodgers's side are currently fifth in the Premier League table.
