Joe Gomez hails the impact made by Mohamed Salah since arriving from Roma last summer, having seen the forward reach 28 goals for the Premier League campaign.

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has said that the effect teammate Mohamed Salah has had since arriving at the club last summer is "indescribable".

The Egypt international racked up a further four goals in the 5-0 win over Watford on Saturday evening to make it 28 for the season in the Premier League, placing him well clear at the top of the scoring charts.

Salah has a further seven goals in other competitions, while also claiming 10 assists in his maiden campaign at Anfield, and Gomez admits that it is simply a joy to be in the same side as the former Roma attacker.

Asked what sort of impact Salah has had since arriving, Gomez told Liverpool's official website: "It is indescribable. The goals he brings are invaluable and he is just so good to play with. It was a pleasure to be out there.

"He's a special player; he is special to watch and I think we on the pitch enjoy it as much as the fans do. The fact he has so many assists shows he is bringing more than just his goals.

"He's a positive person and a great guy to be around. He just gets on the ball and does what he does. He complements the team so well with Bobby (Roberto Firmino) and Sadio [Mane] and the front three anyone in the world would fear them. They all showed their quality in different ways."

Firmino was also on target in the Watford rout, taking his own personal tally to 23 for 2017-18 - his best ever season in front of goal.
