Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola confirms that centre-back Ruben Dias will miss Sunday's Premier League clash against Liverpool due to injury.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that centre-back Ruben Dias will miss Sunday's Premier League clash against Liverpool.

The 24-year-old has been sidelined since March 1 with a hamstring injury and has subsequently missed City's last six matches across all competitions.

Guardiola told reporters on Monday ahead of their Champions League tie with Atletico Madrid that Dias would need between '10 days and two weeks' before he could return to first-team training.

The Spaniard has since spoken to the press ahead of this weekend's encounter against Liverpool, and has confirmed that "everyone is fit" except for Dias.

City have coped well in the defender's absence, winning four and drawing two of their last six matches in all tournaments, conceding only two goals in the process.

John Stones, Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake are all in contention to start at centre-back against Jurgen Klopp's side, with the former two seemingly the most likely to get the nod by Guardiola.

City currently sit top of the Premier League table, just one point above Liverpool in second place with eight games remaining.
