Antoine Kombouare: 'Lens could have grabbed draw against AS Monaco'

Lens coach Antoine Kombouare believes that his side could have at least earned a draw after they fell to a 2-0 away defeat at the hands of AS Monaco in Ligue 1.

Lens coach Antoine Kombouare has said that his side could have at least earned a draw against AS Monaco following their 2-0 defeat at the hands of Leonardo Jardim's men.

The travelling side lost out to goals from Dimitar Berbatov and Yannick Ferreira Carrasco, with their own Pierrick Valdivia missing a penalty that in the end proved costly for RC.

"We're really disappointed. We have the feeling that we could have at least gotten a draw," Kombouare told reporters after the game.

"I don't think we deserved to win, because we didn't play well. We fell into the trap of a team that broke the game up. We were a little naïve. I get the feeling we want to do things too well.

"Monaco had very few chances, but we gave them the opportunity to go in front. After that, we missed a penalty twice, because it's more difficult to put it over the bar after it has been stopped. That's down to tiredness and emotion."

The result now sees Lens sitting one spot off the bottom of the Ligue 1 table.
