Half-Time Report: Juventus cruising against Cagliari Calcio

Serie A champions Juventus lead Cagliari Calcio 3-0 at the interval of their Serie A encounter in Turin.

Serie A champions Juventus lead Cagliari Calcio 3-0 at the interval of their Serie A encounter in Turin.

The first half-chance of the match fell to the home side after just four minutes, but Carlos Tevez saw his effort saved by Marco Silvestri in the Cagliari goal.

Andrea Pirlo tried his luck from distance moments later, but the Italian fired high and wide. The veteran midfielder did not have to wait long to make his mark, however, with the 34-year-old bending a free kick into the top corner with nine minutes on the clock.

It was 2-0 just six minutes later when Fernando Llorente capitalised on some poor Cagliari defending before finding the bottom corner.

Cagliari had the opportunity to cut the deficit to just one goal after 22 minutes, but Daniele Dessena was denied by a smart save from Gianluigi Buffon from close range.

Juventus had their third five minutes before the interval, however, when Claudio Marchisio found the top corner from outside the box.

Kwadwo Asamoah and Tevez both came close to adding to the score in the latter stages of the half, but the score remained at 3-0.
