Federico Gatti nets in the 97th minute as Juventus come from behind to draw 1-1 with Sevilla in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final.

Federico Gatti netted in the 97th minute to cancel out an effort from Youssef En-Nesyri, with Juventus coming from behind to draw 1-1 with Sevilla in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final in Turin.

En-Nesyri's cool finish in the 26th minute looked to have secured an advantage for the visitors ahead of the second leg at Estadio Ramon next week, but Gatti came off the bench to level for the Old Lady in the seventh minute of added time at the end of the second period.

Juventus navigated their way past Sporting Lisbon in the quarter-finals, while Sevilla famously beat Manchester United to continue their pursuit of a seventh trophy in the competition.

Both teams have had turbulent domestic campaigns to say the least, but Juventus recently had a 15-point deduction from earlier in the year overturned, which catapulted them into third in the Serie A table, and they currently sit second, five points ahead of fifth-placed AC Milan.

Sevilla, meanwhile, have now won five of their last seven in La Liga to ease any relegation concerns, and they are now 11th in the table, just three points behind seventh-placed Girona, with Jose Luis Mendilibar winning six of his nine games at the helm.

The first real opening of the match came for the hosts in the 12th minute when Dusan Vlahovic found Filip Kostic in a dangerous area, but the Serbian drilled his effort wide of the post.

Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny then had to keep out a header from Lucas Ocampos, before Bono did brilliantly down the other end to deny Vlahovic, with both sides having opportunities to make the breakthrough.

Vlahovic then missed the target from close range in the 19th minute, before Ocampos fired wide after a header from Fernando, as chances continued to arrive at both ends of the field.

Sevilla made the breakthrough in the 26th minute, and it was En-Nesyri with the finish, with the Morocco international finding the back of the net from inside the box after being picked out by Ocampos.

Szczesny prevented the visitors from doubling their advantage in the 39th minute, with the goalkeeper tipping a powerful effort from Ivan Rakitic over the crossbar, before the final opportunity of the half saw En-Nesyri fire wide, with Sevilla well worth their one-goal advantage in Turin.

A clever free kick from Angel Di Maria almost presented Federico Chiesa - one of two half-time changes for the hosts - with an opportunity to level in the 53rd minute, but Bono read the situation well and was out to collect.

Di Maria and Chiesa again combined to set up Samuel Iling-Junior for a shooting chance, but the substitute's effort was held by Bono between the Sevilla sticks.

Juventus continued to dominate the possession as the match headed for its later stages, but clear opportunities were hard to find; the hosts did have a late shout for a penalty when Adrien Rabiot went down inside the box, but the referee was not interested and VAR agreed.

There was time for late drama, though, with the Old Lady levelling in the 97th minute through Gatti, who headed home from close range after Paul Pogba had nodded the ball into a dangerous area following a corner.

Juventus will be bidding to strengthen their grip on a top-four spot in the Serie A table when they welcome Cremonese to Turin on Sunday, while Sevilla will resume their La Liga campaign away to Real Valladolid on the same night.
