Mick McCarthy delighted with Ipswich Town win

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy admits that he is delighted with his side's 3-0 victory away at Charlton Athletic.

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has said that he is not paying too much attention to their current league position at this stage of the season, despite their recent good form.

The Tractor Boys have moved to the brink of the playoffs with a 3-0 win away at Charlton Athletic, but while McCarthy has acknowledged that he has always considered his team to be contenders for the top six, he admits that the league is currently too tight to call.

After the match, the 56-year-old told Sky Sports News: "I never thought that we were out of it. The league is so tight. It was a high-scoring league last year, but maybe this season it will be low.

"We won't know until May, so we will just continue to try to pick up points. It was a great result for us today. I am delighted with it."

Ipswich are now unbeaten in their last six games in the Championship.
