Roy Hodgson: "There won't be wholesale changes"

England manager Roy Hodgson insists that there will not be "wholesale changes" made to the side that beat Switzerland for the Euro 2016 qualifier against San Marino.

England boss Roy Hodgson will resist the temptation to make wholesale changes for Thursday's visit of San Marino.

Reports had suggested that several fringe players would be handed run outs against the world's joint-lowest ranked nation, ahead of a potentially more difficult Euro 2016 qualifier in Estonia on Sunday.

Hodgson has hinted that he would like to give those youngsters "knocking on the door" an opportunity, but has settled on sticking with the majority of the side that beat Switzerland 2-0 in Basel last month.

"There won't be wholesale changes," he told reporters at his Wednesday press conference. "A lot of players are knocking on the door to play. I've got to weigh the two things up carefully.

"But it would be nice over the two games to see someone else play."

Hodgson also revealed that Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph returned to training ahead of the match at Wembley.
