Belgium manager Roberto Martinez talks up the hardworking nature of Eden Hazard and says that the Chelsea forward leads by example.

Roberto Martinez has heaped praise on captain Eden Hazard for 'setting the standards' in Belgium's 4-0 rout of Scotland at Hampden Park.

The Chelsea forward enjoyed another fruitful evening as he doubled the Red Devils' lead early in the second half and then teed up Michy Batshuayi for the first of his two goals.

Hazard covered plenty of ground to help Belgium push on from their third-place finish at the World Cup, and Martinez insists that the 27-year-old's hardworking nature - despite it being a friendly - can only be seen as a positive.

"I don't see it as a negative. He's in a good moment and he's carried on from where he was in the World Cup," he told reporters at his post-match press conference.

"When you're a captain, you have to set the standard in that sort of manner. It's dangerous when you go into a football match not giving everything.

"Hazard is giving what you want from a captain. I don't think there was anything wrong with him trying to find the right space and drag people out."

Prior to the match, Liverpool and Scotland full-back Andrew Robertson described Hazard as a "special" talent who is among the top five players in the world.
