Chelsea lead 1-0 at half time against Rubin Kazan in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final.

Chelsea have a 1-0 half-time lead over Rubin Kazan in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

Fernando Torres gave the visitors the lead after four minutes as he collected Frank Lampard's 40-yard pass before lobbing the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper to extend Chelsea's aggregate lead to 4-1.

Rafael Benitez's side nearly made it 2-0 on the night 10 minutes later when Yossi Benayoun nodded Torres's cross wide.

Rubin enjoyed good spells of possession during the half but didn't call Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech into action until the 33rd minute, when Alexei Eremenko's shot forced him into a low save to his left.

However, Rubin came close to an equaliser on the stroke of half time when Gokdeniz Karadeniz latched on to a long ball over the top, before seeing his shot tipped wide by Cech.
