Juan Mata has scored his third goal in as many matches to give Chelsea a half-time lead over Danish side FC Nordsjaelland in Champions League Group E.

The Spaniard broke the deadlock on 33 minutes following good linkup play between Fernando Torres and Frank Lampard.

Torres dispossessed Enoch Adu 30 yards from goal and found Lampard just outside the hosts' penalty area.

The England midfielder, who is captaining the Blues tonight in place of the benched John Terry, then cleverly slid the ball through to Mata, who slotted home first time from nine yards.

Chelsea have dominated possession throughout the opening 45 minutes.

Roberto Di Matteo's men almost took the lead after just four minutes when defender Jores Okore beat Victor Moses to a deep cross and headed the ball against his own crossbar.

Chelsea found the net for the second time on 44 minutes, but Torres was correctly ruled offside by the referee's assistant.
