Celtic captain Scott Brown is hopeful of a return from injury within the next week.

Celtic captain Scott Brown has revealed that he is hoping to feature in the club's upcoming matches with St Johnstone and Benfica.

The 28-year-old midfielder has struggled with a hip injury throughout the early parts of the season and although an operation has been discussed, Brown is hoping that two weeks' rest will help him return to the side sooner rather than later.

Regarding a possible operation, Brown said: "Hopefully not, we will see how it is for the next couple of weeks.

"I have had two weeks off resting and I will see if I can play on Saturday, if not, next Wednesday."

Brown has scored 21 goals in 199 matches for Celtic.
