Bournemouth captain Tommy Elphick out for 10 weeks with ankle injury

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe reveals that captain Tommy Elphick is likely to be out of action for 10 weeks with an ankle injury.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has confirmed that captain Tommy Elphick is expected to be on the sidelines for 10 weeks with an ankle problem.

The 28-year-old has already missed the Cherries' last three games, and is expected to have an extended time on the treatment table after undergoing surgery.

Elphick adds to a lengthy injury list of Tyrone Mings, Max Gradel and Callum Wilson, all of whom are expected to miss the majority of the season.

While speaking to the media ahead of Saturday's Premier League away match against Manchester City, Howe revealed that Elphick is not likely to return for about two-and-a-half months.

The Cherries are currently 15th in the league table.
