Barnsley boss David Flitcroft admits that he is happy to see his side return to league action on Tuesday following their FA Cup defeat at Manchester City.

Barnsley manager David Flitcroft has said that he is happy to see his side return to action three days after their exit from the FA Cup.

The Championship strugglers were beaten 5-0 by Manchester City in the quarter-finals on Saturday.

Flitcroft, whose side host Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday evening, has said that the club can now focus on avoiding relegation.

"We've got to get back to work in the Championship and then we'll assess things then. It's unfair to assess them against Premier League players," he told Sky Sports News.

"Tuesday night is a massive game, but I'm glad it's coming because I wouldn't like a full week to reflect on what I've witnessed. At half-time we started thinking about the Brighton game and the significance of that game.

"I'm hoping next week we can regroup as a town, as a club and as a group of players. We need to kick-start and really get going now because the hullabaloo of the FA Cup is over and we can focus on the league now."

Barnsley currently sit bottom of the table, one point adrift of safety.
